Shiny Portraits Archive
Fiona Reid Photography, Ayrshire
I set-up Shiny Portraits in the year 2000 to subsidise my photography college course. It was so popular it became my full-time job when I finished. It was a hidden photographic studio in the middle of Irvine, It was only available through word of mouth and was never advertised, I photographed hundreds of lifestyle portraits. This was when I purchased my first ever professional digital camera an Olympus E-10 Camedia which was a bank bursting 4 megapixel – how times have changed. I used my student travel expenses to buy my first studio light a Bowens esprit 500 with softbox (hate brollys). I hope one day to re-open the doors of Shiny Portraits (perhaps when I have more time).
